Fong Qi Wei Experiment
For this photoshoot, I decided to look at Fong Qi Wei - I was interested in his style of work and I wanted to see if I would be able to replicate the same sort of style, using photos from different times of the day and piecing them together. For this photoshoot, I focused on the style and techniques rather than the subject - I decided to photograph a sort of crime scene, though, as I wanted my subject to have some relevance to my chosen topic. I like the effects I am able to create with Fong Qi Wei's style, and the things I amable to show. However, until I decide on my subject matter, I am unable to decide if I will use this technique. Even if i decide not to use this technique, I will have developed my photoshop skills to help me with my future editing.
The photo on the right was in Fong Qi Wei's original style - photographing the same thing from the same spot at different times of the day. I photographed the same spot at different times of the day. I took photographs of my desk with time intervals of an hour. With this shoot, I learned how to layer and edit these photos together using photoshop.

I used the techniques I learned from the photo on the left to create a photo that was both more interesting and more relevant to my topic of evidence. I photographed a person holding/putting together a fountain pen, and then a person slouched over the book and desk, 'dead'. I altered the levels of the photo of the person on the desk to make it darker, and altered the levels of the other photo to make it lighter. This was to make the dark feeling come from the middle strip of the photo.

I re edited the photos from the left to try a different style - I used a striped effect, in the hopes that both photos would be somewhat visible. I changed the colour balance of the photo of the person on the desk to make it red, to almost resemble the blood and the sense of fear and death. There is a contrast between the white and greys of the innocent photo, and the black and red of the more dark photo.
