Photoshoot 2
Inspired by Niki Feijen and Danielle Arundel
I focused on the photo of the plant growing from the wall in my last shoot, and developed on that idea. I feel that these photo show my idea of aged, derelict buildings being left for so long, nature is claiming them. It shows evidence of humans in nature, but also evidence of nature making an appearance in the industrial, building world of humankind.
I used a very narrow depth of field to create very blurred foregrounds and background - I like the way that this draws your attention only to the focused part of the photo, the main subject. In the photo on the right, I feel that the blurred leaf in the foreground doesn't make the photo very strong as I think it disrupts the peaceful appearance of the photo A fast shutter speed was used in order to get the focused photos, and the white balance 'Shade' was applied as the area lacked sunlight.
I felt that the very narrow depth of field was similar to Arundel's work as she uses very wide apertures so that she can make the main subject of the photo stand right out.
Although I like these photos and this direction of my theme 'abandonment', I want to turn back to more of the building, man-made side of the theme, to really capture the abandoned place.
