Photoshoot 4
Inspired by Niki Feijen, Danielle Arundel, and Rune Guneriussen
This shoot was also somehwhat spontaneous - I spotted this location during a car journey, and returned later that day with my camera and tripod to see if this location would be good. I returned to Niki Feijen's theme of abandonment, and taking photos of the actual location, rather than the plants and greenery in the abandoned areas. I noticed that this location consisted of a lot of the element line, and I tried to capture this in some of my photos.
Although the bottom middle photo consists mostly of a silhouette of a broken building, I like it because it creates a solid black shape against the soft colours of the sky. I had placed my focus on the sky in order to get the sky and clouds to have a balanced exposure, and in the process, this created the silhouette.
The top middle photo is most like Feijen's style as it is just simply of the abandoned place. Although simple, I think that this was effective as the fence in the front makes the photo look more interesting, so no 'special angles' or effects had to be used. I feel that this photo and the photo on the right present the strongest sense of abandonment as they clearly show derelict buildings that have been left at nature's hands.
I thought the photo on the right was similar to the style of Guneriussen, as it is an object that seems somewhat out of place, and Arundel, as the photo has one main subject in an abandoned setting. The photos of the abandoned chair are also very similar to the works of Guneruissen and Arundel. This photo is very plain and simple, but I feel that this makes the photo look good, as I think that if there had been a building in the background then the photo would have looked too crowded and the focus would have been taken away from the main subject - the lone light bulb.
I am going to develop this shoot further as I think it is my strongest one so far.
